<p>Due to the impending storm scheduled to hit Boston tomorrow, the 2013 Boston Spirit LGBT Executive Networking Night has been postponed until March 20th.&nbsp;The new date promises to be a beautiful spring day (and a much better hair day!!)&nbsp;If you have already RSVP'd there is no need to do so again, and now there is more time to invite your friends to attend!</p>

<p>The event will remain at the Boston Marriott Copley Place and doors will open at 6:00 p.m. as scheduled.&nbsp;If you know of others who planned to attend tomorrow night please pass on the postponement information.</p>

<p>This year's keynote speaker is&nbsp;Maura Healey, Chief of the Public Protection &amp; Advocacy Bureau in the Massachusetts Attorney General&rsquo;s Office. She is lead counsel in Commonwealth of Massachusetts v. U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the state&rsquo;s challenge to the federal Defense of Marriage Act, and amicus counsel for Massachusetts in the U.S. Supreme Court cases U.S. v. Windsor, challenging DOMA, and Hollingsworth v. Perry, challenging California&rsquo;s Proposition 8.</p>

<p><span>There are more than 2,000 athletes across Boston&rsquo;s 18 LGBT sports organizations, and it&rsquo;s pretty safe to say they&rsquo;ve never all convened for the same event.</span></p>
<p><span>That could change next year, as plans for the first-annual LGBT New England Sports Award Banquet finally come together almost four years after it was first dreamed up.</span></p>

<p>When Michelle Figueiredo revealed her laundry list of New Year&rsquo;s resolutions to her group of friends in early 2010, they were flabbergasted. And no, it had little to do with the fact that she planned to go through with the last stage of her transformation from male to female.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich <a href="http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2011/12/21/gingrich-to-gay-man-vote-for-obama/">told</a> a gay Iowan recently that if LGBT issues were most important for him, then he should vote for Obama.</p>
<p>The GOP record on gay rights is pretty dismal compared to Democrats, but even so, in the 2010 elections, <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/11/05/gay-voters-republicans-doubled-2008_n_779111.html">31 percent of gay voters</a> said they voted Republican. Surely these must not be single-issue gay voters.</p>
<p>But what if there were actual <em>gay</em> reasons for voting Republican? I stretched my powers of imagination and came up with a list of <strong>The Top Ten Gay Reasons to Vote GOP</strong> in the 2012 presidential elections.</p>]]></summary></entry></feed>
